How to Make Passport Size Photos at Home and Print a Sheet

By Shani Dev Gupta · Updated 23 September 2026 · 4 min read

Instead of paying for a new set of passport photos every time, you can make a print-ready sheet from a good photo and print it at any photo shop or on your home printer.

Steps

  1. Take a front-facing photo against a plain white wall, in daylight, with a neutral expression.
  2. Open the Passport photo maker and add your photo.
  3. Choose the size: 35 × 45 mm (common in India), 2 × 2 inch (US visa) or 25 × 30 mm (stamp size).
  4. Drag the photo and use the zoom slider so your face sits inside the oval guide.
  5. Choose 4 × 6 inch photo paper or A4, then tap Download print sheet.

Printing tips

For passports and visas, the rules on background, head size and glasses are strict and differ by country. Check the official guidelines before submitting.

Frequently asked questions

How many photos fit on a 4 × 6 sheet?

At 35 × 45 mm, a 4 × 6 sheet fits 6 photos and an A4 page fits many more. The tool fills the sheet automatically, or you can set the number of copies.

Can I use a selfie?

A selfie can work if it's taken from far enough away. Close-up selfies often distort the face, so ask someone else to take the photo if you can.
